From Here to Art Travel Agency offers art trips into the inner landscapes of other people.

Together with local people, professional artists and the audience in Oulu the trips will take you to memories, desires, different homes – from one cultural climate to another.

In the centre of travels there are questions:

What would it be like to journey through your inner landscape?

What transformations should happen – to the traveller, or the one being visited?

The agency offers an extraordinary selection of ways to get to know different communities, and other unexpected adventures. Some are one-on-one visits to someone’s home. Others are group expeditions through urban space, designed to make the familiar feel entirely new. The planet and its nature nurturing us all has a special place in the project.

Travel agency works both online and physically in the Oulu city centre. Anyone can enroll in public or go to create new trips together different artistic disciplines with the professionals.

All trips are open to the public, and anyone can sign up as a traveller – or even become a guide. The travel agency operates both online and in a lovely trailer popping up here and there around Oulu, complete with its own set of bold brochures, maps, and surprising departures.

Oulu2026 & Cultural Climate Change

One of the big themes covering the whole Oulu2026 program is Cultural climate change. As part of the official Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme, From Here to Art Travel Agency explores what it means to travel in an age of climate awareness.

The project plays with the idea of “cultural climate change”: shifting perspectives, breaking boundaries, and creating connections between people who might never otherwise meet. Sometimes the most meaningful journey isn’t far away—it’s just across the street, into someone else’s life.

These climate-friendly art trips challenge the very idea of distance. You won’t need a passport—just curiosity, courage, and an open mind.

We work especially with communities that are often excluded from art and cultural services, or for whom finding a path to art can be challenging. Through community art and arts for wellbeing, we bring art to people – into their everyday lives and their own environments.

The cooperative currently includes 38 professional artists with a strong expertise in applying the arts in fields such as social and healthcare services, as well as in various educational settings. We offer our members a creative network, professional support, training, and opportunities to develop their own practice.

ILME’s particular strength lies in its wide range of art forms – from theatre and dance to literary arts, from visual arts to music and crafts. In our projects, art forms meet and merge, giving rise to new and polyphonic artistic expressions. We work in the open city space and inside the walls of care institutions. We are dedicated to local groups and develop internationally renowned one-to-one art.

We collaborate with municipalities, state institutions, and third-sector organizations. We act as experts in the field of cultural wellbeing and actively participate in discussions about cultural rights and the importance of inclusion in society.
