Kehä Festival 2025

Kehä is an annual festival, where all the works are produced for one experiencer at a time. The works take in viewers in care institutions and at an open event at the Culture House Valve in Oulu.

Sharing experiences between artists is an integral part of the festival. We invite artists from all over Europe who work on the basis of one-to-one art, social and health workers who believe in the possibilities of art, and all those interested to join us in our shared circle – Kehä.

All the works are produced for one experiencer at a time.

One-to-One art refers to art that is made for just one person. It opens up possibilities across all artistic disciplines. It could be, for example, a performance inspired by a memory shared by the participant, or painting together as a pair.

One-on-one art is the most accessible form of art. It can be brought to someone’s bedside or other places that are difficult to reach from traditional art venues. When alone with the participant, the artist can more easily take into account the participant’s physical and mental limitations.

One-to-One Art in care communities

In the symposium, we will explore the diverse ways in which one-to-one art has been done in care environments—and what more could be done.

How can professionals in social and healthcare services utilize art in their client work? What structural challenges and opportunities there are in bringing art into the social and healthcare sector? What ethical questions need to be considered?
