The Women of Karjasilta

The Women of Karjasilta is a community art project built on the stories and memories of elderly women living in the Karjasilta residential area. The work makes visible the lives, everyday experiences, and personal histories of these women, especially from the time when the neighborhood was first built, and from its early years, reflecting the chain of generations up to the present day. Participation takes place by sharing your own story – or that of your mother, grandmother, or family. The community’s narratives form the thematic and artistic foundation of the piece.

The work will be realized as an experiential village café, where the lives and memories of women from past generations are brought into the present day.

The village café will be open to the public from 14–17 June 2026 in the Karjasilta area.
